GuardiaQR Android App

Privacy policy and data deletion instructions.

GuardiaQR scans QR codes and barcodes on-device. Some features are optional and only send data off your device when you choose to use them, such as cloud sync, feature requests, desktop handoff, product lookup, or opening external links.

What the app stores locally

  • Scan history, scan content, code type, timestamps, favorite state, notes, tags, and quantity.
  • Settings such as vibration, sound, language, theme, retention limit, safe-scan, and desktop handoff preferences.
  • Queued desktop handoff payloads if you enable webhook mode and a delivery attempt fails.
  • Local usage counters used for the in-app analytics dashboard.

What may be collected by cloud or SDK services

  • Google account email and user ID if you sign in to use optional cloud sync.
  • Cloud sync records stored in Firebase Firestore when sync is enabled: scan content, code type, timestamp, suspicious flag, favorite flag, note, tags, quantity, and update timestamps.
  • Feature request text that you submit, plus your signed-in email or user ID if available.
  • Subscription or purchase status needed to unlock Premium cloud sync through Google Play Billing.
  • App interactions, diagnostics, crash logs, approximate location, and device or other IDs collected by integrated Google SDKs such as AdMob, Firebase Analytics, and Crashlytics.

How data is used

  • To scan codes, render results, save history, export PDFs or CSVs, and apply your settings.
  • To provide optional cloud backup and sync across devices when you turn it on.
  • To verify Premium entitlement and manage founder-limit rules for cloud sync.
  • To serve ads, measure ad performance, analyze app usage, and improve stability.
  • To deliver optional feature requests, optional desktop handoff, and optional product lookup results.

When data leaves your device

  • When optional cloud sync is enabled, synced scan history is stored in Firebase Firestore under your signed-in account.
  • When you submit a feature request, the request is sent to Firebase Firestore.
  • When you use product lookup for a supported barcode, the code may be sent to UPCitemdb or Open Food Facts, or opened in your browser for a price search.
  • When you enable desktop handoff, scan content may be copied to the clipboard, broadcast to another Android app, or posted to the webhook URL you configure.
  • When you open a scanned link, create an email, add a calendar entry, or use another external action, that destination handles the data under its own policy.

Sharing and third parties

  • GuardiaQR does not sell personal data.
  • Google AdMob, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Authentication, Firebase Firestore, and Google Play Billing process data to provide ads, analytics, sign-in, sync, and subscription features.
  • UPCitemdb and Open Food Facts may receive barcode values only when you use the optional product lookup feature.
  • User-configured webhook destinations or other apps you target with desktop handoff receive only the data needed to complete the action you selected.

Your choices

  • Cloud sync is optional and starts disabled until you sign in and enable it.
  • You can sign out of cloud sync at any time.
  • You can review ad privacy choices in the app’s Settings screen when Google requires that control for your region.
  • You can manage subscriptions, cancellations, and refunds through Google Play.
  • You can remove local history entries inside the app and adjust the retention limit in Settings.

Permissions

  • Camera: used to scan QR codes and barcodes.
  • Internet: used for ads, analytics, crash reporting, premium entitlement checks, cloud sync, optional feature requests, optional product lookup, optional webhook handoff, and opening external links.
  • Vibration: used for haptic feedback after a scan.

Data deletion

Synced cloud history: open GuardiaQR, go to Settings, then use Clear cloud data. This deletes synced scan history stored in Firestore for the signed-in account and leaves local history on the device unchanged.

Local device data: delete scan history entries in the app or uninstall the app to remove locally stored data, subject to any device backup settings outside GuardiaQR.

Feature requests or other cloud support data: email aslam.iit.ju41@gmail.com and include the Google account email you used in the app, if any, so the matching records can be found and deleted.

Google account and subscriptions: GuardiaQR uses Google sign-in and Google Play. Your Google account itself and Play subscription records are managed under Google’s own controls and policies.
